About Yoga x Life

Yoga x Life began, and continues, as a way of making thoughtful yoga genuinely part of people’s lives in Newcastle and beyond.

From our studios and online community to trainings, retreats and one‑to‑one support, we hold spaces that help practice live alongside work, relationships, care and rest. At heart, Yoga x Life exists to nurture yoga as a lived relationship between body, breath, mind and community, so that practice becomes a way of approaching life itself.

Meet the founders and the evolution of Yoga x Life

Yoga x Life has grown gradually through the work, practice and relationships of its founders, Debbie and Chris. What began through classes and small community spaces has evolved into a wider ecosystem that now includes purpose‑built yoga studios in Ouseburn, the Kula online community, workshops, accredited yoga teacher trainings and yoga retreats.

Yoga x Life hasn’t grown by following trends, but by noticing what’s genuinely useful and doubling down on their founding mission to create steady spaces where practice can support people over the long term.

Debbie and Chris

Debbie and Chris are the co‑founders of Yoga x Life, and quietly at the heart of much of the North East yoga and wellness world. Their shared work has shaped Yoga x Life into an ecology of practice that includes classes, community, trainings, retreats, ceremonies and spaces for deeper personal work.

Over the past decade and more, they have been central figures in the region’s yoga community. Through consistent teaching, training, mentoring and behind‑the‑scenes support, they’ve helped seed and nourish much of the current landscape. Many of the teachers now holding spaces across Newcastle and the wider North East first trained with, learned from or were mentored by Debbie and Chris.

Chris and Debbie have been teaching publicly since 2010, they opened their first Newcastle yoga studio in 2015, and launched the first 200‑hour foundation training in 2016. Their work draws on yoga, somatics, bodywork, psychology‑informed practice and adult mental health, shaping the grounded, practical and embodied quality of the work. Alongside this, Debbie has widened the emotional, ceremonial and community‑facing dimensions of Yoga x Life through circles, meditations, women’s events, cacao ceremonies and collaborative offerings. Debbie brings a relational and intuitive thread.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

There is no single right way into Yoga x Life. Some people begin with a first yoga class in the studio. Others start online, join a workshop, come on retreat, or enter through a teacher training.

How to Start Practice with Yoga x Life

Yoga x Life Studios

Yoga x Life Studios is our physical home in Ouseburn, Newcastle upon Tyne, where many people first encounter the work through daily yoga and meditation classes and a steady teaching team, and rooms designed specifically for practice.

The studios welcome beginners, regular practitioners and those returning to yoga after time away. Classes are designed to feel considered, inclusive and sustainable, with memberships and passes that support different rhythms of practice rather than a one‑size‑fits‑all approach.

Events and workshops

Beyond the weekly timetable, Yoga x Life hosts workshops, guest‑led sessions, circles and special events that allow particular themes to be explored more deeply. These spaces invite people to slow down, ask better questions, and spend more time with aspects of practice that cannot always be held in a standard class.

Events are also where the wider Yoga x Life community gathers: through seasonal moments, collaborative offerings and practice‑based experiences that open new ways of learning, relating and connecting.

Retreats and immersive journeys

Retreats with Yoga x Life offer time away from the usual rhythm to immerse more fully in practice, rest, reflection and community. They create enough space for deeper shifts to unfold, supported by clear teaching and thoughtful structure.

Rather than functioning as an escape from life, retreats are part of the wider intention of the brand: to create experiences that can be integrated back into the way you live, choose, relate and practise once you return home.

Kula: our online community

Kula is the online community of Yoga x Life, a digital extension of the studios and trainings. Hosted on Circle, it offers live online classes, an on‑demand class library, practice threads, study spaces and alumni communities so practice can continue even when you can’t be in the room.

Kula supports studio members who want continuity between classes, online‑only members practising from home or further afield, retreat guests integrating their experience, and training students or graduates who want ongoing connection and study.

Teacher trainings and longer pathways

For those who feel called to study more deeply, Yoga x Life offers longer learning pathways, including accredited 200‑hour foundation teacher training and further education programmes. These trainings are designed to give a comprehensive grounding in practice, philosophy and teaching, while also supporting personal transformation.

One to one support

Not all support needs to happen in a class or group setting. Yoga x Life also includes one‑to‑one support and treatment spaces for people who want more personalised attention, more specific guidance or a quieter starting point.

These sessions can complement studio practice, support times of recovery or transition, or simply offer a different pace of engagement when that is what is needed.

Who Yoga x Life is for

Yoga x Life is for people who want more than a workout, but who also don’t need yoga to be exclusive, performative or disconnected from real life. It’s for people looking for practices that are grounded, intelligent, embodied and capable of meeting life as it is.

You may be new to yoga and looking for a steady place to begin. You may be returning after time away, seeking a more meaningful rhythm of practice, or feeling called to deeper study through trainings, retreats or community. Wherever you’re starting from, our intention is to meet you with honesty, care and clear teaching.

Our approach values embodiment over performance, awareness over appearance, and continuity over intensity. We work with movement, breath, meditation, philosophy and somatic awareness in ways that help people become more present to their own experience.

You don’t need to do everything at once. For some people, Yoga x Life begins with a single class. For others it starts with Kula, a workshop, a retreat, a one‑to‑one session or a training. What matters most is finding an entry point that feels alive and workable for you.

From there, you can explore studios, online community, events, trainings and retreats and follow the thread that feels most supportive as your life and practice evolve.
