Dog on the Tyne Festival 2026
Join Yoga x Life at NE1’s Dog on the Tyne festival on Newcastle Quayside for gentle, dog‑friendly yoga sessions designed for hounds and their humans.
These relaxed, accessible classes invite you to move, breathe, and unwind by the river while your dog settles, explores simple “poses,” or just enjoys being close to you. Dog yoga at Dog on the Tyne is a calm, feel‑good way to bond with your four‑legged friend, reduce stress, and try yoga in a playful, welcoming environment, even if you’re completely new to practice.
Location
Our dog yoga sessions take place by the Swirle Monument / Swirle Pavilion on Newcastle’s Quayside, as part of NE1’s Dog on the Tyne programme of free, family‑friendly activities. You’ll be practising outdoors by the river, close to Wesley Square and Quayside Garden where the wider festival offers puppuccinos, dog walks, selfie stations and more.
Booking, cost and what to bring
Dog on the Tyne is free to attend, and our dog yoga sessions are free to book, but spaces are limited and must be reserved in advance. To secure your spot for dog yoga visit our booking page HERE
Available Session Times Are:
11am - 11.30am,
11.45 - 12.15pm,
12.30 - 1.30pm,
1.45 - 2.15pm, and,
2.30-3pm
Dogs must remain on leads throughout the event, except inside designated activity areas, so please bring a secure lead, poo bags and water for your dog. For comfort, we recommend bringing a yoga mat or towel, wearing clothing you can move in, and arriving a few minutes early so your dog can settle and sniff around before the session begins. Please note, you will remain responsible for your dog during the session.
Quayside Yoga Summer Flows
Even though the full Summer in the City programme isn’t running this year, we couldn’t imagine August without riverside practice, so we’re hosting a series of Summer Flows on the Quayside ourselves.
Across August, Yoga x Life will be holding one outdoor class every Wednesday at 6pm on Newcastle Quayside.
These sessions are steady, accessible evening flows designed to help you unwind after the day, feel the river air, and experience practice woven into city life. Expect simple, grounding movement, nervous‑system‑friendly pacing, and a chance to pause with a small, focused group as the city settles around you.
Available Dates are
Wednesday 5th August, 6pm–7pm
Wednesday 12th August, 6pm–7pm
Wednesday 19th August, 6pm–7pm
Wednesday 26th August, 6pm–7pm
Because we’re organising and staffing these independently, our class capacity is more limited than previous years, so you’ll need to secure your space in advance.
You can book using your existing membership or by purchasing a standard class drop‑in credit. To keep the original “as good as free” spirit alive, everyone who checks in using a drop‑in credit will have one credited back to their account after the class, so it still works out as a free summer session by the river.
Please remember to bring your own yoga mat.

The Quayside Carnival
Join Yoga x Life at NE1’s Quayside Carnival for a day of family‑friendly fun on Newcastle Quayside, with outdoor yoga sessions designed for kids and grown‑ups to move, breathe and reset together.
Quayside Carnival transforms the riverfront into a playful festival space, with circus performances, crafts, free boat rides and more – and our family yoga classes offer a calm, grounded pause in the middle of all the excitement.
We’ll be hosting two short, accessible yoga sessions during the festival, each focusing on simple movement, grounding breath and playful poses that work across mixed ages and abilities. In between our two slots there’s even a Michael Jackson dance‑along, so families can switch from mindful movement to full‑on party energy and then back to a more settled nervous system again.
No previous yoga experience is needed, just curiosity, comfortable clothing and a willingness to join in together.
These sessions are free to attend as part of Quayside Carnival, but spaces are limited, so advance booking is recommended.
Available Session Times Are:
12.30pm - 1pm, and,
2pm - 2.30pm.
Please remember to bring your own yoga mat or a large towel; it keeps things more comfortable outdoors, gives children a clear “home base,” and helps us keep the sessions running smoothly on the Quayside.

Beyond the Roles | The Archetypes Within
Throughout our lives we naturally step into different roles. We become the carer, the achiever, the peacemaker, the rebel, the protector, the one who always holds it together. Many of these roles serve us well, helping us navigate life, relationships and responsibility. Yet over time, some can become so familiar that we forget they are roles at all.
This immersive workshop invites you to pause and gently explore the identities you've created, inherited or adopted, and the stories that have shaped them.
Drawing inspiration from archetypal wisdom alongside reflective practices, guided meditation and experiential exercises, we'll begin to recognise the patterns that influence how we show up in the world. Together we'll explore which roles continue to support us, which may now be limiting us, and what becomes possible when we reconnect with the essence beneath them.
This is not about fixing yourself or becoming someone different.
It is about creating space to meet yourself with honesty, curiosity and compassion, discovering the gifts hidden within every role you've played, and remembering the authentic self that has always been there.
Whether you're navigating change, seeking greater self-awareness or simply curious about the patterns that shape your life, this workshop offers a meaningful opportunity to deepen your understanding of yourself and the way you relate to others.
Leave with practical tools, personal insights and a renewed sense of clarity about who you are becoming.

What Happens on Path 1?
Path 1 lays the foundations for the rest of the Warriors of Light training with an illuminating dive into your root.
The Q’ero shamans of Peru understand illness, stagnation, and suffering as the accumulation of heavy energy, or hucha, within the luminous energy field. This luminous energy field is the subtle blueprint that surrounds and informs the physical body, holding our stories, patterns, and potential for healing and growth.
Path 1 shows you how to track, locate, and transform this heavy energy at its root. Rather than working only with the mind or emotions, you will learn to engage directly with the luminous field, so that change happens from the source outward.
This is not a passive learning experience. Throughout the immersion you will both give and receive healing with fellow students, held and supervised directly by Deborah and her team. By the end of Path 1, you will have personally experienced the core ceremonies of the Q’ero tradition and will have a grounded set of tools you can begin to weave into your own life and practice.
Weekend Itinerary
Friday Evening
Opening Cacao Ceremony to arrive, land, and connect with the circle.
Introduction to your tools and the foundations of building your mesa or medicine bundle.
Learning how to open sacred space and call in the directions and allies.
Saturday
Understanding emotions and repeating patterns within the luminous energy field and how they imprint in the body.
Root medicine and shedding practices to release heavy energy and old stories.
Exploring the archetype of Sachamamma - the serpent - and how it supports grounding, presence, and shedding the past.
Sunday
Protection rites and Bands of Power to strengthen your field and create clear energetic boundaries.
Working with sand paintings to map and transform personal patterns.
Despacho ceremony to restore reciprocity and balance.
Learning to create and hold a Fire Ceremony for release, prayer, and renewal.
Continuing to build your mesa/medicine bag as a living altar and healing tool.
Guided journeying to meet your power animal and spirit guides.
By the close of the weekend, you will have learned how to open and close space, worked with the Serpent archetype, experienced foundational Q’ero ceremonies, and taken the first steps in building your mesa and personal connection to the lineage. You will have received a variety of tools such as rattles, smudging herbs and a printed manual to support your continuing study.
Path 1 stands alone as a personal transformative journey. It also counts as direct credit toward full Warriors of Light practitioner certification if you choose to continue your journey around the Medicine Wheel. You will receive a full itinerary with more detailed timings in the days leading up to the training weekend.
Who teaches path 1?
Your guide for this initiation
Path 1 is taught in-person by Deborah, a lineage holder who has walked every step of this Medicine Wheel herself.
Deborah has spent over a decade living and teaching the Q'ero medicines alongside Esther. Her gift is creating the conditions for genuine transformation and learning with a blend of warmth, real lived experience, and a practical and grounded approach that makes the most potent practices accessible.

Bhuta Shuddhi: Recalibrating the Subtle Body
Bhuta Shuddhi is a traditional yogic practice designed to cleanse and balance the five elements within the body; earth, water, fire, air, and space. The practice uses visualisation, breath and mantra to work on a more subtle level, helping to reset your internal environment, clear stagnation, and create a sense of lightness and clarity from within.
At the start of a new month, this kind of practice becomes especially powerful. Offering a natural point of reset and an opportunity to realign your energy, intentions, and direction before momentum builds.

We can guarantee may that by the end tying your shoelaces will be less of a tactical operation!

Through guided journeying, embodiment practices, and earth‑based ritual, you’ll uncover what is ready to take root in your life…and what it asks of you in return. This is a moment to find clarity around points in your timeline where the road feels split and to heal choices and patterns from the past so they no longer shape your future.
In this session Debbie will guide you to release old burdens, redefine your direction, and step into the next chapter with grounded intention, so your path forward reflects who you are now, not who you used to be.
