COURSE CURRICULUM

Inside the Training

4 Core Modules

Your training unfolds across four immersive modules that give you the skills, confidence, and structure you need to start teaching safely and authentically from day one.

1.

The Core of It All: Exploring Posture, Breath, and Inner Mechanics

This first module lays the foundation for the entire training by diving deep into the functioning of the body and yoga practices from the inside out. This immersive and practical module is designed to help you understand and teach movement and breath from the depths of your lived experience, infused with a sense of our shared structural intelligence, and an understanding of our bodies (and brains!) evolution.

You will learn to see, feel, and guide the body in a way that honours its complexity, and trains both awareness and adaptability for yourself and your student. This is not a foundation that ‘starts small’ but rather is one that builds deep.

You’ll leave with tools to teach movement and breath, but more importantly, you’ll leave understanding the ‘why’ underneath, ensuring you can move from awareness and not habit.

2.

Structure and Flow: The Art and Craft of Sequencing and Assisting

This module explores how to weave the components of practice into a living, intelligent whole. We will explore how to design practices around principles of ‘rasa’ that convey feeling, purpose and integrable information in order to craft sequences for yourself and others that awaken presence and pave the way for transformation.

You will learn to build practices around an inner logic that will feel seamless and alive, whilst integrating components of structure based on an understanding of how the different segments, components and layering of elements underpin different physiological and psychological effects. You will learn how to use cueing and physical adjustments in order to safely and effectively support progress and autonomy.

At the end of the module you’ll have the skills to craft, adapt and refine classes with a balance of precision and creativity that meets all students where they are. To consolidate this module practitioners will write a four week course submitted as 1/3rd of the assessment for the total yoga teacher training.

3.

Stillness and Subtlety: Exploring Prana, the Energy Body and Principles of Restoration

This module delves deeper into the unseen architecture of practice. We will explore the movements of prana, and the energetic principles and practices that underlie yoga and other forms of embodied and therpeutic movement and meditation practices. Through breathwork, restorative postures, meditation and subtle body mapping you’ll learn how to use your practice to replenish and harmonise energy in order to guide through states of rest and renewal into empowerment!

At the end of the module you will have the skills to tap into the medicinal heart of yoga practice, and offer classes in a variety of modalities

4.

Voice, Presence and Holding Space: The Art and Craft of Inspirational Teaching

This concluding module isn’t really the concluding module as it’s woven all the way through the course and focuses on the practical art of teaching, offering tools to bring your knowledge to life in the classroom with authenticity and confidence.

We’ll explore how to find and refine your teaching voice, communicate with clarity, and create inclusive environments where students feel safe and supported. You’ll practice verbal cueing, observation, hands-on assists, all whilst gaining essential insights into the operational realities of the yoga industry. and understanding what it is to run a modern yoga business.

During this segment participants will deliver a yoga class and compliment a multi-choice exam in order to complete the courses assessment.

  • Demonstrate understanding of the course materials as assessed through ongoing ‘in training’ tasks, and,

What happens if I am unable to attend all the dates?

We understand that life can be busy (and sometimes unpredictable!)

If you are unable to attend all the dates please speak with the course lead to confirm a plan for catching up the hours. Whilst it is always preferable to attend as much in person as possible, each training is recorded live with graduates retaining access to the recordings for their ongoing practice. Real Transformations From Students to Teachers

STUDENT STORIES

Words from our 200hr Yoga x Life Training graduates

Chris is an incredible teacher. He created a welcoming and empowering learning space, where everyone felt supported and challenged in the best way.

Every module built on the last with intention and clarity, and there was a perfect balance between hands-on practice, teaching drills, group discussions, and personal growth.

I left the training feeling not only confident and excited to teach, but also deeply inspired as a student.”

★★★★★

Training in person felt really important to me.

The course has been beautifully put together in a way where things have started to sink in gradually and not only teaches you "how to teach" but also encourages self development and builds confidence.

I'm so pleased I chose yoga x life for my training!”

★★★★★

From early on in the course there was a strong element of learning to teach through the opportunity to teach the cohort which is not always part of YTT courses!

Collaborative learning is a huge part of the course; as a group we would regularly create and teach sequences.

I have now completed the course and taught 3 classes so far and I can genuinely say that I felt prepared to do so.”

FAQs

  • Chris is the founder and managing director of Yoga x Life Studios and Yoga x Life Trainings. He is recognised as a Senior Yoga Teacher, and Pro Trainer with Yoga Alliance Professionals.

Chris began teaching publicly in 2010, before opening the ‘YogaTherapies ‘ studio in Newcastle upon Tyne in February 2015. The first 200hr training ‘Yomala, Vinyasa and Yoga Therapeutics’ commenced in September of 2016.

Chris completed his first trainings in Forest Yoga, before expanding his knowledge with further trainings in Astanga Vinyasa, Yin, Pranayama, Somatics, Classical Tantra and a variety of Bodywork modalities. He infuses his approach with information from his study of psychology, and work in adult mental health and creative therapies, and 15+ years working at the forefront of the modern Yoga and wellness world.

Chris maintains a regular teaching practice both at the Yoga x Life studio, and regularly as a guest teacher and speaker on retreats and at a variety of events.

  • All Yoga x Life Training Courses are accredited by Yoga Pros (formerly Yoga Alliance Professionals)

We chose Yoga Pros as it distinguishes itself from other yoga accrediting bodies by setting higher teaching standards, demanding extensive experience from trainers, and actively supporting the professional growth of its members.

Unlike other organisations such as Yoga Alliance US, which require as little as two years of teaching experience for lead trainers, Yoga Pros requires a minimum of eight years teaching experience and 4,000 hours before someone can apply to lead a foundation teacher training course

  • To join a 200hour foundation training Yoga Pros recommends 2 years experience of Yoga.

Continuing education modules and workshops can be joined for personal interest without formal requisites. Any specific requirements will be listed in the course descriptions.

  • Yes, online trainings and workshops are recognised as continuing education.

Yoga Pros differentiates between a workshop and a training. In order for a training to be accredited it must be delivered ‘live’ (either online, or in person) and constitutes a new skill. Workshops are created to build on an existing skill set and can either be delivered ‘live’ or pre-recorded.

We believe the flexibility of a self-paced training is important but not suited to all types of learning and so have carefully selected which modules are delivered in which format to ensure the highest quality information alongside accessibility and affordability.

  • Each course will list formal completion requirements in the curriculum.

All courses are recorded live so that attendees can revisit the content. In cases where a segment is missed it is possible to catch up through a combination of watching the recorded content and support from the course lead.

  • All trainees have lifelong access to the Yoga x Life Trainings graduate hub and maintain access to course materials for a year after the date of completion.

  • Graduates are offered the opportunity to take part in ‘Yoga x Life Introducing’ where they can lead teaching sessions at the Yoga x Life Studio. Introducing Sessions are free to lead, with graduates taking 100% of the donations left.
