A New Thursday Prāṇāyāma Class

Breath, attention and the practice of working with prāṇa.

As we continue expanding the programme at Lime Street, we're introducing a new Thursday Prāṇāyāma class at 1.30pm, following Slow Flow.

Breathing is something we work with in almost every yoga class, but prāṇāyāma gives us an opportunity to make the breath the central focus of our practice.

Drawing on the traditional techniques and teachings of yoga, these sessions will explore the relationship between breath, attention and the nervous system, while gradually developing our understanding of prāṇa and its place within the wider tradition.

We'll work with different breathing techniques, learning how to refine the rhythm, quality and movement of the breath, and exploring how these practices influence our physical and mental experience.

Developing a deeper understanding

Each session will combine a little explanation with guided practice, giving us time to explore the techniques themselves and understand what we're doing and why.

Over time, we'll investigate different approaches to breath regulation, including the relationship between inhalation and exhalation, the use of pauses and the development of greater sensitivity to the subtleties of breathing.

The aim is to develop familiarity, confidence and a sustainable practice that can continue well beyond the studio.

How to join

These sessions are open to everyone, including those approaching prāṇāyāma for the first time. Techniques will be introduced progressively, with options to suit different levels of experience.

You can join us specifically for prāṇāyāma or come along to Slow Flow beforehand and enjoy a longer afternoon of practice.
